The first step in taking care of your skin properly is aiming to create a personalised and effective routine. Consider the products that are currently in your rotation; do you have targeted products? Do you have products that are deeply hydrating and leave your skin feeling replenished and refreshed? Are you still using it just to get to the end of the product? A crucial and sure way to achieve the skin that you want is by understanding your skin and what it loves and feeding it with ingredients that work hard together to create the skin to feel your best in. We’ve put together a Kem Skin routine that caters to different skin concerns and types. Build an infallible routine that your skin will thank you for.
Step 1: Cleansing
Cleansing is one step in your routine that should never be missed. Cleaning your skin as your first step ensures you get rid of any dirt and oil that’s built up in your skin throughout the day and it preps your skin to properly absorb other products.
If your skin is oily or acne-prone, then the Restore Cleanser is just what you need to get your skin looking and feeling the best it has. It’s formulated with Blueberry, Green Tea and Tea Tree extracts to clarify and exfoliate whilst leaving your skin feeling smoother and more controlled. The willow bark extract and salicylic acid work together to regulate sebum production, target blackheads and whiteheads and minimise the appearance of pores.
For dry and sensitive skin, the Balance Cleanser consists of a refreshing, oil-free formula that gently removes dirt and sebum from the surface of the skin. Those with sensitive skin can rotate between this cleanser and the Soothing Facial Cleansing Oil or Melt-It Cleansing Balm for an even gentler cleanse.
The Super Skin Cleanser is ideal for normal skin types, with Turmeric and Tea Tree Extract and Wu Zhu. It not only brightens, but the classic Super Skin Cleanser also eliminates dull skin whilst simultaneously repairing blemishes and inflammation.
If you’ve worn make-up or just feel like your skin needs a deeper cleanse, we recommend you incorporate double cleansing at night time.
Before you go in with your cleanser of choice, use either the Soothing Facial Cleansing Oil or the Melt-It Cleansing Balm.
Our cleansing oil contains jojoba, lavender and safflower oil to gently remove make-up and impurities. The Melt-It Balm is a hard-working cleansing balm that is packed with luxurious oils that soften and brighten skin, whilst dissolving impurities. To apply, simply put a pea-sized to coin-sized amount on your fingertips and gently massage onto dry skin to create a milky lather. After 30 seconds, wash your face with warm water and pat your skin dry. Then, go on to further cleanse your face with your Kem Skin cleanser of choice.
Whether it’s the morning or evening, be sure to work your chosen cleanser into your skin for 60 seconds.
Step 2: Exfoliate
Exfoliation should only be done at night time and doesn’t need to be done every evening.
The Super Skin Exfoliant is a liquid exfoliating solution that contains a blend of azelaic acid, BHAs and AHAs. Each of these, combined with Liquorice Root Extract, are formulated to remove dead skin cells and minimise hyperpigmentation and acne.
If you have dry skin, it is best to only use the Super Skin Exfoliant once a week to avoid stripping your skin of its natural oils. For those with normal, oily or acne-prone skin, exfoliating with this 2-3 times a week is suitable and works wonders when you use the Super Skin Cleanser beforehand. We wouldn’t recommend its use on sensitive skin.
Step 3: Toner
Our Hydrating Toner can be used by all skin types every day, both day and night. It intensely hydrates and brightens the skin whilst removing any dirt that may not have been removed by your cleanser. Hyaluronic acid and glycerin join forces to lock moisture into your skin and the Wu Zhu extract brightens dark marks over time.
If you’ve cleansed with the Balance Cleanser, then opt for the Balance Toner to maximise the results. Just like the cleanser, it has an oil-free formula that gently rejuvenates and replenishes skin whilst adding vitamins to aid in skin repair and regeneration.
To get the most out of our toners, we recommend you switch out the cotton pads and transfer your toner into a spray bottle and spray it directly onto your face. We encourage you to use the Hydrating Toner in between every step of your routine as damp skin absorbs and retains serums and moisturisers much better than dry skin.
Step 4: Serum
For increased hydration after toning, use the Hydra-Glow serum in the morning and evening. It’s jampacked with so much goodness that every skin type can enjoy it. Hydra-Glow is a fast-absorbing serum that aids in strengthening collagen production to strengthen your skin’s moisture barrier and it intensely soothes and replenishes to reduce redness and inflammation.
Step 5: Moisturiser
After applying Hydra-Glow in the morning, you’ll want to condition and moisturise your skin with our day cream – Hydradaze. This daily facial cream delivers long-lasting hydration and promotes radiant, plump and even-looking skin. Since it’s a water-based lotion, after application your skin is left with a light and bouncy, skin cushioning finish. Regardless of your skin type, your skin will benefit from choosing Hydradaze as your day cream.
The second member of our moisturiser dream team is the Night Shift Cream. A rich and intensive treatment that does exactly what it says it does. It contains a gentle but powerful blend of plant extracts and active and nourishing ingredients that work carefully through the night to repair and replenish your skin. This combination of ingredients will exfoliate, regulate acne, soothe inflamed and blemish-prone skin and encourage cell turnover. As it’s an intensive treatment, we recommend you don’t use other actives when using this cream and keep usage to twice a week. Don’t be shy – you can be generous when applying this cream!
Step 6: Oil
Lock in the moisture and nutrition from your serum and moisturiser with the Ultra-Glow Face Oil. It consists of a hardworking blend of nourishing oils that contain essential skin superfoods such as Broccoli Seed Oil and Avocado Oil to promote cell regeneration and turnover and combat dull skin, dark marks, scarring and hyperpigmentation. This oil works perfectly following Hydradaze or our Night Shift cream to seal in all that moisturise.
Step 7: SPF
As the last step of your morning routine, be sure to apply SPF (30 or above) to protect your skin, not just in the summer but all year round. Spread your sunscreen along the full length of your index and middle finger and massage it onto your face and neck. To get the most out of your SPF, reapply every two hours
